SUSTAINABILITY

We Do Less So It Lasts Longer

Sustainability is not a feature at LISA AVIVA. It's the architecture of everything.

When Lisa Bleviss returned to fashion in 2015, she built the company around a simple commitment: create beautifully, create responsibly, and share every step of that process with the women who wear our clothes.

Our Framework

LISA AVIVA operates within the guidelines of the Regulatory Guide to Action, published in 2017 by the Boston Consulting Group and Global Fashion Agenda. We treat this not as a ceiling but as a floor.
  1. Slow Fashion:
We don't design for a season. We design for years. Our silhouettes are intentionally timeless — because a garment that lasts is a garment that doesn't end up in a landfill. Every piece honours the tradition and heritage of clothing as a long-term investment, not a disposable trend.

  2. Local Production:
From New York to Toronto, every LISA AVIVA piece is designed, cut, and sewn in North America. We know the studios. We know the hands. We keep our supply chain short on purpose — because proximity creates accountability.

  3. Natural Fibers:
After Collection 1, we eliminated synthetic blends wherever possible. Every fabric we use is natural: wool, cotton, silk, linen. Fibers that breathe, age well, and eventually return to the earth. Nothing here is designed to outlive us, like microplastics.

  4. Intentional Quantity
We produce small runs, deliberately. Not as a marketing tactic, but as a waste-reduction practice. When we order less fabric, less is cut. When we sew fewer pieces, fewer end up unsold. Scarcity here is a sustainability choice — with the welcome side effect of creating something collectible.

  5. Certified Materials
Our outerwear uses Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified zippers, sourced from a specialty manufacturer. Notions are deadstock wherever possible — salvaged from specialty suppliers rather than manufactured new. Every detail is considered.

Responsible Packaging
Recycled materials are used for all print materials, packaging, and shipping. The envelope or box your order arrives in is part of our commitment, not an afterthought.

Small Business Ecosystem
We partner with small businesses at every stage of development — from fabric sourcing to finishing. We believe that a fashion industry built on collaborative, equitable relationships makes better clothes and a better world.
We are committed to transparency — including about what we're still working on. Each season, we share the steps we're taking to become more sustainable. This is not a finished story. It's an ongoing one.
