*Note From Lisa: "As the result of recent Indigenous Cultural Awareness and Sensitivity Training, I now understand that the use of the word "tribe" in interviews was culturally insensitive. What I intended to communicate, was a group of like-minded people with shared values.
I am grateful for the opportunity to keep learning."

The sustainable fashion movement has the ability to completely overhaul the industry. There are many aspects of the industry that have resulted in a construct much like a house of cards. Now is the time to make a change and co-create a new industry – especially with the addition of the effects of Covid-19 on fashion, at both the manufacturing and retail levels. |
Sustainability is considered at each and every stage of the business, from sourcing through shipping. Travel and carbon emissions have been reduced with domestic sourcing. Textiles have become increasingly green, season after season – including the expansion of the Hand Knits collection. Hand Knits are custom orders, which require only samples and no stock – which cuts down on possible overstock, as well as costs. This also allows for minimal waste, as compared to Cut & Sew collections which generally produce a larger amount of waste, regardless of how carefully patterns are cut. |
I am not generally enamored of celebrities. While there are some I would be delighted to work with – I prefer instead, powerful women making great strides in their communities. For example, I greatly admire the work of Swiss art collector, patron and force of nature, Maja Hoffman, and would be delighted to see her in the collection. |

PARIS' BLENDER BOOKMAGAZINE: LISA AVIVA

"Lisa Aviva, by Canadian designer Lisa A. Bleviss based in Toronto and New York, led the track with an extremely accessible but moderately sensual collection. Branded sizes 10+, the Bleviss collection was a celebration of curves. It featured a selection of elongated dresses and skirts that floated on the runway, in both understated and sophisticated colors: army green, camel and blues. The collection offered both close-fitting and flattering pieces that did not hide but celebrated a fully figured form. The collection ended on a high note with two knits, heel length, ponchos cinched at the waist in reddish-pink and rust with hints of blue, brown and green. True testimony to creative and innovative art that is finely detailed, Lisa Aviva created a line that appealed not only to larger women, but the garments fit the curvy bodies better than any of the size 0 garments."
